Nasolabial Folds
Fillers can be used to restore volume lost from the face as we age or lose weight, most commonly through the cheeks, temples, lips, naso labial folds, jowls and jawline
Perioral area
Marionette lines and folds can be improved by using dermal fillers. Adding volume this helps to move the mouth corners forward so your lower lip is more supported, creating a more upwards turn in the corners of the mouth.

Mid Face
Midface aging is most apparent in the periorbital and mid-cheek zones, and is characterized by four anatomical elements:
-
Skin sagging (ptosis) and loss of elasticity
-
Weakened facial muscles with less tone
-
The descent of malar fat pads
-
The degeneration of bone structure

What is Botulinum toxinBotulinum Toxin therapy is available and registered in New Zealand in three forms: Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®. Shelley will determine which product is best for you. This product is a natural, highly purified protein that is extracted from the bacteria, Clostridium Botulinum, in a similar way that penicillin is from mould. The product is produced under strictly regulated conditions

How quickly will I see results? You may see results in as early as 2-3 days, however typically improvement is noticed in 5-7 days. The peak effect is between 10-21 days after treatment. Shelley will provide a complementary revoew of your results 2 weeks after you treatment.
-
What happens during the treatment?A full medical history will be taken prior to your treatment and you will have an opportunity to discuss any aspects with Shelley, a registered nurse. You will need to complete a consent form before treatment. Shelley will determine exactly where to use the product to achieve the best results for you. No local anaesthetic is required, although your doctor may use ice or apply a topical anaesthetic cream if required. Tiny amounts are injected into selected facial muscles using a very fine needle. Discomfort is minimal and only lasts for a few seconds.

How does Botulinum Toxin work?Botulinum Toxin treatment works by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles to create a softer, rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. With repeated treatments your lines gradually soften, and new lines are prevented from forming.
-
How long does a Botulinum Toxin treatment last? The effects from botulinum toxin typically last 3 to 4 months. Treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) may last up to one year (the average is 6 months).
-
Who should not be treated?Botulinum Toxin has not been studied in pregnancy, and it is therefore unknown if foetal harm will result if a pregnant woman is treated with Botulinum Toxin. Therefore, the use of Botulinum Toxin is not recommended during pregnancy. Additionally, it is unknown if Botulinum Toxin (botulinum A exotoxin) is excreted in breast milk, where it could affect a nursing infant. Therefore, Botulinum Toxin treatment is not recommended for use in lactating women. Clients with neuromuscular disease, such as myasthenia gravis and Eaton-Lambert syndrome, should not be treated with Botulinum Toxin as it may worsen these conditions. Of course, anyone who has had an allergic reaction to Botulinum Toxin should not be treated.
-
Will I look plastic or frozen? If your treatment is administered properly, you will still be able to show expression. Depending on the area treated, it may be appropriate to only soften the muscle movement. You can discuss this with Shelley prior to treatment.. Most of my clients are extremely happy with the results of their treatment. The most common comment made by friends and family of clients after receiving treatment is that they appear to be more “rested.”
-
What aftercare do I need? You should not rub the treated area or lie down for 3 hours after the treatment, nor should you have a facial within a week of treatment. I also encourage abstaining from vigorous exercise for the remainder of the day.
-
What side effects could occur?Possible side-effects include tenderness and mild bruising at the injection site and a slight headache in the first few days after your initial treatment. The drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow is uncommon, and if this occurs it is only temporary. Muscles and anatomy are unique in everyone, which may result in an asymmetrical effect. This is easily correctable at your complimentary review within 2 weeks of treatment. There have been no permanent side effects reported from treatments.
