Mono Threads are made from a material called Polydioxanone which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable. The Mono Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face allowing natural collagen production to take place, over time the PDO thread will be fully absorbed by the body. Typically, around 20-50 PDO Mono threads are used to treat each area.

It can be done as a treatment for a suitably volumised patient who needs tightening or skin improvement, or as a preventive procedure to prevent the face from sagging. PDO threads are unsuitable for patients with bleeding disorders, some auto-immune diseases, uncontrolled diabetes.

This pain-free treatment starts with numbing the treatment site. This ensures you feel no discomfort during your treatment. The PDO Mono threads will be inserted via needles known as cannulas. Some tenderness may be experienced after the first few hours following treatment.

Profhilo® is a bio-remodelling product that works through the slow release of both high and low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid. The treatment can be repeated every six months.

The common injection related side effects are localised and temporary, and may include one or more of the following:

• Swelling, redness and/or slight bruising.

• Occasionally itching, pain/tenderness, or increasing swelling.

• Rare risks such as blindness, loss of blood supply to an area of skin and infection associated with the filler product have been reported in literature. These are treatable if managed appropriately.
